Florida feels hurricane’s wrath

Hurricane Ian made landfall around noon on September 28, straddling the low-lying barrier of Sanibel Island and Captiva Island with a storm surge expected to rise up to 18 feet above ground topped by destructive waves along a southwest Florida coast that has not seen a storm like this in decades, if ever.
