FLY LIKE A LOCAL

Privacy policy

How Fly Like a Local handles your information.

Effective October 24, 2026

This notice explains how Fly Like a Local LLC ("FLAL", "we", "us") handles personal information when you use our website, mobile application, communications and support services. It covers both information sent to our services and information processed on your device. Aviation data coverage is currently focused on the United States.

1. Who is responsible and how to contact us

Fly Like a Local LLC, 605 Nakota Dr, Fairborn, OH 45324, United States. Contact Leslie Vancil through support@flylikealocal.com or the website support form. Do not send your password, verification code or payment-card details.

2. Information you provide

  • Account and profile: your sign-in phone number, account identifier, display name, profile photo, optional email, airport affiliations, favorites, specialization and profile information you choose to add.
  • Communications and shared content: messages, attachments, profile photos/videos and documents you send or upload, associated participants, timestamps and delivery/read information. Cloud-backed communication and profile content is stored using our service providers.
  • Support: your name, email, question, device/app version and optional screenshot; related correspondence and internal handling notes. Website support uploads are private rather than part of the public media library.
  • Purchases: subscription product, transaction/receipt information, purchase history, entitlement status and an app/account identifier used to manage access. Apple processes App Store payments; FLAL does not receive your full payment-card number.

Do not put another person's private information into a message, profile, photo or support attachment unless you have an appropriate basis to share it.

3. Location, flight records and nearby equipment

With device permission, FLAL processes precise location, position timestamps, GPS altitude, ground speed and track to show your location and operate flight tools. Active flight tracking may continue in the background when the relevant permission and tracking state allow it. You can stop tracking or change location permissions in device settings; dependent features will then be limited.

Routes, flight tracks/logs, aircraft details, notes and imported aircraft documents used by the flight workspace are stored in account-separated local app storage in the current app. This does not make them anonymous. The current app does not automatically synchronize the complete flight journal to a FLAL cloud flight-log service. Device backup settings and any export or sharing action you choose can create additional copies elsewhere.

Online maps, charts, weather and preparation requests can reveal the requested map area, airport identifiers or geographic query to the relevant provider. A receiver connection can supply position, traffic, equipment status and broadcast weather to the app over your local network. Receiver products are not a guarantee of complete traffic or weather coverage. Exporting a flight track can disclose its precise route and times to the recipient or service you select.

4. Technical information and cookies

The app and service providers process technical information needed to deliver and maintain the service, such as app/device identifiers, IP address, operating system and app version, notification registration tokens, crash/error reports and, according to enabled analytics configuration, feature-interaction events. These identifiers can be associated with an account or device; we do not describe all technical data as anonymous.

The website uses session/security cookies for its operation, forms and editor sign-in. Hosting and application logs may contain IP addresses, request times, requested pages and browser information. The website offers optional first-party analytics and advertising measurement. When you accept website analytics, we record page paths, approximate device category and country (using a locally stored IP-country database), referral source, campaign labels and actions such as video plays and App Store link clicks. A random first-party visitor identifier helps estimate visits; we do not fingerprint visitors or collect search text or support-message contents for analytics. Detailed analytics events are retained for up to 90 days, with aggregate reports retained longer. A privacy-choice cookie and any optional visitor identifier expire after 180 days. You can reject optional collection or change your choice through Privacy choices in the website footer. Counts may be incomplete when collection is declined or blocked.

If advertising integrations are configured and you accept advertising measurement, Google Ads and Meta may receive page and conversion events, advertising click/cookie identifiers, network address and browser information. Pending server-side advertising payloads are encrypted and retained for no more than seven days; withdrawal cancels pending transmissions. We do not send your support-message contents, name or email through these website advertising integrations. Global Privacy Control disables optional advertising measurement, and Do Not Track disables our website analytics. Previously delivered events remain subject to the receiving provider's policies. See Google privacy information and Meta privacy information. Hosted YouTube/Vimeo players are loaded when you choose to play them; external links and media can send requests to their own providers when opened or loaded.

5. Why information is used

We use information to authenticate accounts; provide maps and flight tools; store and deliver communications and profiles; manage subscriptions; answer support requests; investigate abuse; maintain reliability and security; and meet legal obligations. Permissions for location, notifications and selected media support the features you choose to use, rather than replacing this notice.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, the relevant bases include providing the service you request, legitimate interests in running and protecting it subject to your rights, consent where required for optional processing, and legal obligations. Required sign-in information is needed for account-based features. Optional profile fields and media are not a requirement to browse the public website.

6. Recipients and service providers

  • Google/Firebase: phone authentication, cloud database/storage, push messaging, crash reporting and integrated analytics capabilities. Phone numbers supplied for Firebase sign-in are sent to Google for authentication and applicable spam/abuse prevention. See Firebase privacy information.
  • Google Maps: online maps and associated SDK services. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Apple and RevenueCat: App Store billing and subscription entitlement management. RevenueCat receives transaction and app-user identifiers; FLAL signs RevenueCat in with a FLAL account identifier. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy and Apple privacy information.
  • Hosting, email and aviation-data providers: website hosting, support delivery, chart downloads and requested aviation information. A request generally exposes network information and the requested resource or query to its recipient.
  • Other users and chosen recipients: profile information and content according to the feature and audience you select, communication participants and recipients of an export. Do not treat public profile or airport content as a private message. Recipients can keep their own copies.

We may disclose necessary information to comply with law, protect users or security, resolve claims, or complete a corporate transaction subject to applicable protections. Provider processing is a disclosure; using a provider does not mean that no information is shared. Contact us for information about the providers relevant to your request.

FLAL does not sell personal information for money. Optional advertising disclosures to Google and Meta may be considered sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising or targeted advertising under applicable laws. You can decline or withdraw optional advertising measurement through Privacy choices; we also honor Global Privacy Control for this measurement. Operational disclosures to the providers above still occur where needed to deliver the service.

7. Retention and deletion

Account information and cloud content are kept while needed to operate the account and services. Support records are kept while needed to address the request and related obligations; security/diagnostic records and transaction information are retained for their relevant operational or legal purposes. Local flight records remain on your device until removed through available controls or app-data removal, subject to device backups and copies you export.

To request access, correction or deletion, contact support@flylikealocal.com or Help & Support in the app. Include enough account information for us to locate the request; do not send sign-in codes. We may verify your identity. The iOS app currently reports that account deletion is unavailable and directs you to support; this notice does not claim that automatic in-app deletion is operating.

Eligible information must be deleted or de-identified when no longer needed, subject to applicable legal exceptions. Information that must be retained must be limited to the relevant purpose. Backups, independently held recipient copies and provider records may need separate handling. We do not promise that deleting a sign-in identity instantly erases every database, backup, message copy and device export.

Deleting an app or requesting account deletion does not cancel an Apple subscription. Manage it separately through Apple subscription settings.

8. Your choices and rights

You can edit available profile fields, choose supported content audiences, stop flight tracking, change system permissions and turn off visible notifications through device settings. A notification token or background service may still be used as needed for authentication or service operation according to platform behavior. Contact support for information that cannot be changed through the available controls.

Depending on where you live and which laws apply to FLAL, rights may include access, correction, deletion, a portable copy, objection/restriction, withdrawal of consent, opt-out rights, an appeal and a complaint to a regulator. Withdrawal does not undo processing that was lawful before it. We will not discriminate for exercising an applicable privacy right and will respond under the applicable legal requirements. Authorized agents may need to show authority.

Precise location and communication contents can be sensitive personal information under applicable law. We use these to provide the requested features and permitted operational purposes; they are not described as "not sensitive" merely because they are useful to a pilot. Specific state-law rights depend on whether the law applies; this notice does not assert that every statutory threshold is met.

9. International processing and security

FLAL is based in the United States. Our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Contact us for information about the applicable safeguards for an international transfer relevant to your request. We use reasonable organizational and technical safeguards, but no transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

10. Age eligibility

FLAL account services are intended for people aged 18 or older. They are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child or an ineligible minor has supplied information, contact support so we can investigate and take appropriate action. This is an eligibility rule for FLAL, not a statement that all aviation qualifications require age 18.

11. Changes

When this notice changes, we will publish the revised notice with its effective date and provide any additional notice or obtain any consent required by applicable law. This notice is linked from our website and app; it should be read together with the Terms of Use and the relevant platform/provider information.
