Get to know the local pilots

A useful conversation before you arrive.

Make it easy to recognize you

Complete your profile and choose your local airfields in settings. A short introduction makes an airport conversation more useful: where you are based, what brings you to the area and when you hope to visit. Share only details you are comfortable making available to others.

Ask questions that local knowledge can answer

Open an airport conversation or contact a pilot directly. Specific questions tend to produce practical answers:

  • Where do visitors usually park, and who should confirm permission?
  • Is there a convenient way to reach town?
  • Which restaurant or attraction is worth the visit?
  • Who can confirm fuel, opening hours or transport for the planned date?

Include your approximate arrival window when it helps, while avoiding unnecessary personal or security-sensitive information.

Separate recommendations from operational authority

A local pilot can point you toward a useful contact or published procedure. A chat message is not a clearance, official weather briefing, runway-condition report or confirmation that a restriction has ended. Verify time-sensitive operational information with the appropriate current source.

Keep the conversation useful

Be respectful, allow time for replies and acknowledge help. If plans change, update anyone arranging a visit or ride. Do not repost another person’s contact details or photographs without permission.

Messaging is available without Pro. Receiver and flight-data features do not make messages available offline; start important conversations before leaving your connection. For a destination research checklist, see plan the visit beyond the runway.

Before you fly

FLAL provides supplemental planning and situational awareness. Verify current official information and your equipment setup. Offline data is a saved snapshot, not a live update.
